We buy spices directly from processors and farmer networks in the growing regions, not through city traders. Buyers get the grade they specified, tested against their own parameter sheet before dispatch. Spot and contract volumes are both quoted per enquiry; minimums depend on the spice and the season.

Spices

Turmeric

Turmeric ships as fingers, bulbs or powder from India's main growing belts. The commercial questions are curcumin percentage, colour value and cleanliness, and the honest answer is that these vary by region and season. So we do not sell a generic grade. We ask for your specification first, then match a lot to it and test before dispatch.

Food manufacturers care about curcumin consistency because a variable input forces reformulation downstream. We fix the percentage at contract stage and attach a certificate of analysis to every shipment. Steam-sterilised and ground options are available where a market enforces microbial limits.

Cardamom

Green cardamom is the most value-dense spice we handle, and quality lives or dies on pod size, colour uniformity and volatile oil content. We select at auction and processor level against the buyer's target grade, usually specified in millimetres (6-7 mm, 7-8 mm, 8 mm bold).

Packing is what protects the aroma through a long voyage, so vacuum and barrier packing are standard for premium grades. Most of our cardamom demand comes from the Gulf, where it is daily consumption, and prices move hard with harvest cycles. Where volumes justify it we advise buyers on contract timing instead of just quoting the spot number.

Spices

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is graded on cut and oil content: whole quills for retail presentation, quillings and chips for grinding and extraction, powder milled to a specified mesh. Volatile oil percentage drives flavour strength, so it is tested and certified per lot. Buyers hold their formulation constant that way.

Most cinnamon buyers run recurring volume, so the useful structure is contract supply: fixed specification, scheduled shipments, the same documents every time. Spot enquiries are quoted against current availability. Fumigation and steam treatment are arranged where destination rules require them.

Spices

Black pepper

Black pepper is the highest-volume spice in world trade and the easiest to get wrong on paper. Commercial grading turns on bulk density in grams per litre (500 g/l and 550 g/l are the common export grades), piperine content, moisture and cleanliness. We quote against the exact grade your market buys, not a trade description.

Lots are machine-cleaned, de-stoned and graded before packing. Steam-sterilised pepper is available for markets with strict microbial limits, and cracked or ground formats can be milled to specification. Pepper prices are volatile, so once a specification is contracted we hold it fixed; the price conversation and the quality conversation stay separate.

Spices

Red chilli: Teja / G9

We focus on the two Indian chilli varieties international buyers ask for by name. Teja (S17) has high capsaicin and deep red colour, which makes it the standard for oleoresin extractors and hot-cuisine markets in Asia and the Gulf. G9 gives strong colour with moderate heat, suited to powders and retail blends.

Chilli is the spice destination regulators test hardest, mainly for aflatoxin. Our lots are dried and graded under controlled conditions and tested for aflatoxin and pesticide residues against the destination country's limits before shipment, not after a rejection. Stem-cut, stemless and powder formats are available. We quote against your laboratory specification: ASTA colour value, SHU pungency, moisture.
